Our yoke dress is made from a beautiful mid-weight textured handspun, handloomed khadi. It has been hand block printed in a soft grey cane bench print embellished with red hand cross-stitch highlights. It has a soft neckline with a red blanket hand-stitch detail with a keyhole button on the back to make it easy to put on. The rounded seam above the chest teamed with the 3/4 sleeves length broadens the shoulders and lengthens the body. It has side pockets because every good dress should have them and small side splits for ease of movement and allows for pants to be layered under turning it into the perfect tunic. Our tip: try it with the matching Cane Bench Wide Leg Pants.
Cane Bench Print
A willow bench with an irregular knot pattern which forms a grid of hearts. The style, originating from Europe, features stylistic carvings made by craftsmen. The bench can be a sign of welcome, inviting visitors to stop in and stay. The sheer pattern which decorates the bench was understood through artists Ómra Caoimhe and Madeline Beech as they explored pattern-making through drawing and collage. What they had adapted from the original pattern adhered to the lines which formed certain heart shapes, as a focus of symbolic communication. The patterns that now adorn the garments can be worn as a symbol of love, safety, or strength, as the hearts create a visual fence around the garment; drawings cascading down the hand-loomed fabric of wooden carved hearts. Atoning to the crafts at hand.
